We regret to inform you...our pre-schooler gives zero Fucks about your cute valentine's day stuff.2/14/2018 Andrew showed up to pre-school today with his P.J. Masks Valentines made out in a Zip-Loc Freezer Bag. His hair was done (til his hat goes on), he had a red and white striped golf shirt on with his blue jeans. No teacher treats. No sweets for the class. A Ziploc and some Valentines written by the huzz as I was falling asleep with Andrew at bedtime.
Kid #1- Cute box of themed Rice Krispies. Damn. They're pre-packaged. That's brilliant. Why didn't I think of that? Kid #2- Pink glitter shirt. Bow headband. Adorbs. She's rolling in with a gift bag. Kid #3- "I Love You Beary Much" shirt and a paper bag. Cello-wrap coming out. Shit. Her grown up is hand wrapping stuff. Probs for the teachers. Kid #4- Themed gift bag. I whisper in my head: Shit. Should have at least used that gift bag from Lynette. It's freaking beautiful. Maybe I have time to grab something for his teachers. I failed on that. Hard. At least he looks cute. Damn. My kid: OBLIVIOUS to the parental efforts. "Timbo*, I have P.J. Masks cause they're my frrraverite. Look. See. They're my frrrraverite show." *Holds his bag up proudly*. Me Thinking: Timbo's Mom is gonna judge our lack of coordination HARD. Dammit. Should have..... My kid: "I LOVE P.J. Masks!" So proud. Oblivious. Authentically. Does not care. Listen, Super Parents, you're doing so awesome and so you're so coordinated, and you clearly have your stuff together. I just want to say GOOD ON YOU. I used to want to be that way. Right now, my kid doesn't notice the efforts. At all. And now, I don't feel bad about the lack of effort on my own end. I saw the morning through his eyes for a few seconds today and I am at peace with this. For real. Not even me just saying it to try to CTFO. He's not thinking: "Gosh, I wish my parents had made an effort or coordinate, accessorize, pre-plan". He might one day. He might. He might not. Right now, I'm cool with just kind of chilling out on this. *Names are changed. Obvs. There's no Timbo at Preschool.
